D. Berardi is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA and came to Germany upon completing her studies in the USA in 2000. In 2000, after she received her B.A. in German and French Languages and Literature, magna cum laude, she spent a year in Germany with a Fulbright Stipend, for which she taught English at the German-French Gymnasium in Saarbrücken. After the school year ended, she decided to stay in Germany. Since then, she has been a freelance translator and English instructor for managers, buyers, company owners and professionals in small groups and individually.

Currently, she works with the language institute lingua internationale and explido Sourcing & Services GmbH&Co.KG, and can count several renowned companies such as Siemens, BMW, Gunther Sachs among her growing list of clients.

When she's not teaching and translating into the English language, she keeps busy writing - naturally, in English. She has been writing poetry for several years; in November 2000, she started writing the manuscript for her first novel and since 2001, she has been regularly writing essays on the theme of being an American expatriate in Germany.
